WALNUT CREEK HISTORY
Connie Rogers also had a family member with Mental Retardation.  She, like the
Walsh's had a vision that these homes could be run more effectively.  So she put
in an application with the State.  They approved this application on August 27,
1992.  This was the 7th last ICF_MR group home to open in Texas.  Several of the
girls that moved into this home in 1992, still happily live there.  From 1995 till
2005, Connie was a partner in a large facility, Lancaster Residential Center.
While there, she worked with Wendy Yates.  Wendy left in 2004 and went to work
for one of the largesst HCS (Home and Community Services) providers in Texas..
After running that program for a number of years, she returned to her roots and
in 2009, Connie and Wendy wentt into business, establishing  AIM HIGH  Home
and Community Services.
BROOKWOOD HISTORY
David and Margaret Walsh have a special son named Matthew.  When Matthew
was old enough and it seemed more appropriate that he should live in an
environment with his peers, David and Margaret looked for a home that would
focus on Matthew's needs and would provide him the training to reach his
goals of becoming more independent.
The Walsh's soon became discouraged because they could not find a home
that provided quality care and a healthy lifestyle.  So, they took a big step and
opened the first Brookwood group home in 1991.  Using their personal home
located in Southlake, Tx.  Matthew still lives in this home, in his own room that
he has had since childhood.  The Walsh's subsequently opened two more
group homes , one in Southlake and one in Hurst.  Margaret continues to play a
vital role in the Brookwood Group Homes.

As a Medicaid funded program, the State of Texas sends in yearly or more
often as needed, inspectors (surveyors) which would visit the home and insure
that the home is complying with State and Federal Standards.  The surveyor
that was often assigned to the Brookwood homes in the early 90's was Connie
Rogers, now LeeMauk.  So, as David and Margaret like to say, "Connie was also
there in the beginning."
Throughout the 90's and 2000's Connie and several of her associates, including
Wendy Yates, often went up to Brookwood and continued to have a relationship
with the Walsh's, providing them with any assistance needed in complying with
the State guidelines.  So, as a natural progression, in March of 2011, David felt
like it was time to retire.  He could have sold the homes to a large, impersonal
provider; however, he and Mrgaret choose to keep "the homes in the family" so
to speak.  As of March 2011, Brookwood Group Homes were purchased by
Connie LeMauk and Wendy Yates, with a vow to run these homes as close as
possible to the vision instituted by David and Margaret Walsh.
